Why Are New Jersey Weddings So Expensive?
How do people spend so much on a wedding? This is insane! On social media, you see a lot of people living very lavish lifestyles, going on vacation, nice cars, and then out of nowhere they have a beautiful wedding. Either I’m not cut out for this lifestyle or I’m doing something wrong.
I recently got engaged and planning for the wedding has already started. It was all fun and playful until my fiancee and I took a tour of a location and we were hit with an insane price of $ 50,000 to host our wedding reception. OUCH! was the word that came out of my mouth.
How can we afford such a big expense? Of course, it’s a memory of a lifetime and a great moment, but why so dear?
According to Insider, the state of New Jersey is probably not the best state to get married, as it is considered the most expensive state to get married.
We learned from Insider that this is the average price you can see in the state of New Jersey:
Cost of the ceremony and reception: $ 46,100
Engagement ring Cost: $ 7,300
Average total cost of the wedding: $ 53,400
Lucky we have a bunch of neighboring states because Pennsylvania is just a little cheaper. Pennsylvania took 10th place as the most expensive overall and here are their average costs.
Cost of the ceremony and reception: $ 30,700
Cost of the engagement ring: $ 5,200
Average total cost of the wedding: $ 35,900
It’s still a really high price though in Pennsylvania, but you get a $ 20,000 discount if you want to call it that.
Before I moved, I heard that planning a wedding is fun and you’ll enjoy it, but after seeing these numbers I’d like to say it’s stressful. But hey, bring on the wedding, we’re ready for it.
